DescriptionVarious scenes from war. In the center of the composition at the bottom, a soldier on horseback arrives with news. At the left an artist draws soldiers who stand in front of him while others watch. At the right, soldiers read the newspaper. In the center of the composition at the top, a buries her head in her arm as she grieves. She holds a letter in her left hand.Text under the etching reads:
