DescriptionDish painted with a 'Cotton Tree' specimen (named on the leaf) and scattered floral sprigs attracting a butterfly within a brown-edged lobed rim. The 'Cotton Tree' specimen is taken from an engraving in Maria Sibylla Marian, De Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium of te verandering der Srianaamsche insecten, pl. 10.
