DescriptionThe figure is modeled after the Meissen porcelain original by Peter Reinicke (1715-1768) in September 1744 (model number 576) for the 'Duke of Weissenfels Series,' from the engraving "Habit de Narcisin de Malalbergo" by François Joullain (1697-1778) after Charles-Antoine Coypel, in Luigi Riccoboni's Historie du Théâtre Italien (Paris: Pierre Delormel, 1728). It is traditionally known as 'The Captain'. The figure wears a black hat, a gilt-edged pink jacket, turquoise breeches and a blue cloak and stands on a green mound base.
