DescriptionThe bagpiper is probably based on the Meissen porcelain figure of Harlequin playing the bagpipes, modeled originally by Johann Joachim Kändler, ca. 1738, and remodeled ca. 1745. each paired with Columbine playing a hurdy-gurdy.The shepard bagpiper wears a brightly colored costume and has a brown-spotted dog seated at his feet. He is seated above a circular mound base edged with green and gold scrollwork.
