DescriptionModel number 297, after the original bronzed plaster statue from a series of historical figures by John Cheere (1709-1787) of Hye Park Corner, ca. 1749. The figure is wearing traditional Puritan dress edged in gold and a rose lined cloak. The figure stands against a plinth relief-molded with the "Expulsion of Adam" and supporting an unfurled scroll inscribed with a verse from Paradise Lost. The figure stands on a gilt-edged chamfered rectangular base.Status
